Mishka NYC - Engineered To Destroy

в тридевятом царстве.. We are very proud to present New York Citys finest russian to you! Mishka has found it's lair at Caliroots! The A/W-07 collection, Engineered To Destroy, is the best one ever. Coach jackets, M65s, western shirts, knitted sweaters, duffel bags and backpacks! Instore now and online early next week.

You might already have seen this t-shirt, it was allover the Internet a while back! The print is an original artwork by illustrator Derek Riggs. On the Mishka webpage following can be read on the subject:

Derek Riggs is the incredible artist and genius responsible for all of the classic Iron Maiden imagery of Eddie. Riggs developed Eddie from an original character he'd created called Electric Matthew. Maiden, upon seeing the Matthew character, asked Riggs to slightly alter the character for use on their first album cover. Eddie has been an Iron Maiden and pop culture mainstay ever since.

Derek Riggs claimed in the Maiden documentary '12 Wasted Years' that the design for Eddie was based on a head he'd seen hanging on the side of a burned out Japanese tank from the Battle of Guadalcanal while watching a television documentary.

But the commissioned painting is only part of the story behind the shirt! You see, Rasputin was in fact a band. A band so monumentally brutal that we felt they deserved to be immortalized and given proper album artwork treatment... Who's band was it? Where were they from? What happened to them and their music? We're not exactly certain... but we will be happy to share our story and discovery over on the BLOGLIN!
