The inspiration for these limited caps is drawn from the traditional scarfes used in the middle east. This is the British SAS Shemaghs Series. This version of the Keffiyeh is standard issue for the British SAS (aswell as American Special Forces, SPECWAR and CIA paramilitary units), used in arid climates to provide protection against sun exposure, wind blown dust and sand.
